Tourism[edit]Udumalpet is connected with Coimbatore and Tiruppur by highways and Major District roads. The total length of roads, streets within corporate limits is about at 83.022 km. Consisting of 8.983 km of concrete road, 47,772 km. Of B.T roads and 26.627 km of other types of roads. The street pattern within the town is generally narrow about 83.022 km of roads are within the corporatation area and about 9.0 km belonging to the category of Major District Roads and National Highways. The town is located in the Pollachi-Palani section of the Indian railways.

The town is surrounded by hills and has a good weather throughout the year. Waterfalls in Thirumoorthy hills draw tourists and tt takes half an hour to reach the falls by trekking from the Thirumoorthy Temple. A drive on the Udumalpet-Munnar roadgives views of the Western Ghats. Chinnar is 25 km (16 mi) from Udumalpet and the reserve forests of Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park and Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary are located nearby.

The  Amaravathi Dam  is a  dam  constructed on the  Amaravati River . It is located at  Amaravathinagar , 25 kilometres (16 mi) south of  Udumalpet  on  SH 17  in the  Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary ,  Tirupur district  in the Indian state of  Tamil Nadu . The associated  Amaravathi Reservoir  is 9.31 square kilometres (3.59 sq mi) in area and 33.53 metres (110.0 ft) deep. [1]  The dam was built primarily for  irrigation  and  flood control  and now also has four megawatts of electrical generating capacity installed. Scores of Tamil Nadu farmers, who had grabbed eyeballs with their unique protest earlier this year, on Sunday landed in the national capital to resume their agitation for loan waiver and drought-relief package. However, around 70 cultivators were detained when they tried to stage a demonstration near the Prime Minister’s residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. They were later taken to Parliament Street police station. “Our demands were not met  as promised by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami  and Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan. So we have decided to resume our protest for another 100 days,” farmers’ leader P Ayyakannu said. The farmers have been demanding a drought relief package of ₹40,000 crore, farm loan waiver and setting up of Cauvery Management Board by the Centre.
